Alpine Ice

Alpine Ice is located just outside the 'four avenues' in Christchurch and is an olympic sized skating rink.  Alpine Ice also offers a snack bar, cafe/bar, gaming area and sells various products onsite.

Cultural Precinct

The cultural precinct includes many sites of culture and learning, entertainment, shopping, leisure, history and heritage.  All sites can be reached easily on foot or by historic tram. Christchurch Parks Walkways

The Christchurch area has many popular walkways, taking from 10 minutes to a whole day to complete. Choose from coastal scenery such as the Southern Pegasus Bay Track, to trekking through Bottle Lake Forest or head for the hills on the Port Hills Crater Rim walkway. Check the Christchurch City Council website to see if the track you want to walk is open, you may also be able to download and print a map of the track you choose.

Iron Ridge Quarry

To the north of Christchurch lies the exciting Waipara Valley region. Not only does the area boast some top quality vineyards, it is also home to Iron Ridge Quarry Sculpture Park. If you're planning a trip to Hanmer, it's well worth putting some time aside to take a look. The sculpture park is located at 707 Rampaddock Road and open on Sundays from 10am to 5pm. Admission is $10 per adult and children under 16yrs old are free.

Why not take a day trip to Hanmer Springs?  Only 90 minutes drive from Christchurch, Hanmer Springs is well known for it's thermal pools.   Relax outdoors in the thermal pools, or enjoy some of the many other activities available such as, horse riding, bungy jumping,  jet boating, river rafting, paintball, clay target shooting, quad biking, mini golf, and helicopter flights are just a sample of the action that Hanmer Springs has to offer.

Akaroa

Akaroa is just 79km from Christchurch and has many activities on offer,  whether you're into the outdoors or shopping.  Akaroa has something for everyone, including wildlife cruises, swimming with dolphins, fishing, mountain biking and horse treks.  Visit the Akaroa Information Centre for information on walks in and around Akaroa.  Visit the historic Barry's Bay cheese factory, enjoy a coffee or meal in one of the many fine dining cafe's and restaurants or indulge in some retail therapy in the many boutiques and galleries.

Kaikoura

Why not take a day trip to Kaikoura?  Only 182km from Christchurch, Kaikoura has so many activities to offer including, whale watching, swimming with seals, wineries, swimming with dolphins, rafting, bird watching and cave tours, as well as many more!
